PADI PROFESSIONAL CARREER
(Dive Master, Assistant Instructor and Instructor)

PADI DIVEMASTER

We will help you to be prepared to enter the professional world and take care of customers. as You will have to participate to classes of theory, you will have to attend confined water and open water training in order to fully develop your skills. Your instructor will monitor your progress and guide you in the path to become a professional.

You should consider devoting to this program at least 10 days.
A minimum of 60 dives is needed at the end of the dive master course in order to get certified.

The Divemaster Course includes:
- Independent study assignments
- Academic Training Sessions
- Pool Sessions
- Open Water Training Sessions

PADI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR (4 days) – OFFERED THROUGH THE AKUMAL DIVE SHOP

Take this program at the IDC center -   Akumal Dive Shop - with the help of our staff!

The PADI Assistant Instructor program offers PADI Divemasters (and those certified to leadership levels with other diver training organizations) additional training as instructional assistants and dive educators. This program will build upon your abilities to organize and supervise dive activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills.

Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical application, candidates learn to construct effective teaching presentations and conduct PADI programs.

To qualify for PADI Assistant Instructor training, you'll need to:

  1. Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or at leadership level with another recreational diver training organization.
  2. Be at least 18 years old.
  3. Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical exam form signed by a physician prior to any in-water activities.
  4. Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water dives with experience in deep and navigation.

The PADI Assistant Instructor program consists of:

  1. Formal training in conducting PADI programs and experience programs.
  2. Independent study assignments.
  3. Practical application sessions.
  4. Written examination.

Upon successfully completing the PADI Assistant Instructor program, you will receive a certification card and wall certificate denoting this rating. You'll also become a member of PADI (with an annual renewal fee) and will receive benefits, including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance.

PADI INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE (IDC)
(10 DAYS)
OFFERED THROUGH THE AKUMAL DIVE SHOP

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) represents the most important part of the instructor program. It stresses a lot the importance of a complete development of the future instructor skills.

You will learn the PADI system in confined water, open water and in the classroom.

With the help of our Course Director you may proceed in enhancing your diving skills.
You will find a stimulating and motivated atmosphere. You will be satisfied by your experience!

The final judgment on your capability will be carried out during the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). We usually suggest completing the PADI IDC in a single phase. However if you do not have enough time you may split it in 2 (AI and then OWSI).

Entry requirements:

  1. Proof of PADI Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Divemaster certifications or qualifying certification from another training organization
  2. Certified Open Water Diver for at least 6 months
  3. Minimum age: 18 years
  4. First Aid and CPR training within the last 24 months (PADI Emergency First Responder certification recommended)
  5. PADI Diving Medical Statement signed by a physician and dated within the last 12 months
  6. Proof of at least 60 logged open water scuba dives
  7. Logged proof of deep, night & navigation diving
  8. Prior Completion of all 16 IDC Independent Learning Knowledge Reviews

Completion Requirement:
Proof of 100 logged dives is required to take the PADI IE
Note: Candidates who are not PADI divemasters are also required to pass the diver rescue skills assessment.
